Introduction

The Thambuththegama Dedicated Economic Center, which was opened on September 2, 2003, targeting agricultural production in areas. It is consists of 56 trade units, and opened to the public on September 13, 2005. It is now functioning as a very active center.

Especially in Rajarata agricultural production areas such as Nochchiyagama, Thalawa, Galnewa, Bulnewa, Kalawewa, Mahailluppallama, Eppawala, Meegalewa, Thambuththegama as well as people from Rajanganaya, Wilpattu, Mahavilachchiya, Tantirimale, Medawachchiya, Inginimittaya farmers are come every day to this economic centre to sell their products.

The number of businessmen and customers who visit the Economic Center daily is approximately 3000 and the number of vehicles arriving exceeds 1000-1500.

There is a need to develop and expand this economic center based on future needs in an area where there is a farming community whose main livelihood is agriculture.
